Tacloban City [Aug. 13, 2008] — Eastern Visayas State University is holding its annual Intramurals with the theme: “Keeping Together in Sports in a progress at Work, from August 12 to 15, 2008.

The intramurals aims “to develop the skills of student in sports,” said Prof. Perla T. Figer, Director of Cultural Affairs, P.E and Sports Development Department (CASD).

This activity started yesterday (Aug. 12) with a Thanksgiving Mass at 8:00 a.m., followed by a parade through the main streets of Tacloban, and an opening program and cheer dance competition.

The games started yesterday afternoon, but there were also other activities like the hip-hop competition, dance competition and the Search for Mr. and Miss Fitness 2008 at auditorium.

Games to be played today include taekwondo. There would also be a Literary Contest and Musical Contest at Audio Visual Room Science Bldg. Then by August 14, a swimming competition will be held at Baluarte, San Jose, this city.

The sports events and other competitions are being participated in by EVSU-Tacloban City, Carigara Campus, Tanauan Campus, Burauen Campus, Dulag Campus, and Ormoc Campus. This intramurals is being spearheaded by Prof. Figer, who is also the overall chairman of the activity. The intramurals would culminate on August 15 with the awarding ceremony at 3:00 p.m.
